Chapel

Phone:  717-245-3318
Alternate Phone:  717-226-4599

Welcome to the U.S. Army War College Memorial Chapel! While your time here may feel more like a deployment than a PCS, we hope this will be a time for you and your family to “put down roots” so that you leave here richer, stronger, and ready for the next chapter in life.
Life consists of many elements, some tangible and some intangible. The social and spiritual dimensions of the human experience can serve as a source of great challenge and great reward. While the chapel community cannot offer everything, I believe we have the ability to offer the right thing for you and your family. Our members get what it means to have to come in quickly, establish healthy relationships, and then have to move again. To that end, we believe in the importance of both a solid relationship with God and reliable relationships with others.
We invite you to join us in building and maintaining "koinonia", a fellowship based on and strengthened by faith, through worship, sacraments, religious education, youth programs, and various fellowship programs.
Consider this a time to review past chapters in life, make sense of our life story, and build plans for the future of our relationships within in the family. Our two garrison chaplains are trained Family Life Chaplains, who have worked extensively with Soldiers and Family members to gain understanding and insight for their lives. Unlike other resources, chaplains are not mandated reporters and offer a place of true confidentiality in order to provide a safe place where you can make sense of life. We invite you to join us in the year ahead. May God bless you and your time here at Carlisle Barracks.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: How do I file/submit a complaint to an Inspector General (IG)?
A: A complaint, allegation, and/or request for assistance can be presented to an IG in person, by telephone, or regular mail. In order to protect your confidentiality, we strongly discourage contacting an IG via e-mail.

Q: What is an IGAR?
A: An IGAR is an Inspector General Action Request, DA Form 1559-R. A complainant completes the IGAR, presents it to an IG, who in turn initiates the appropriate action. You can download a DA Form1559-R at the Army Publishing Website or visit the IG office and fill one out in person. When completing an IGAR, please include as much DETAIL as possible (who, what, when, where, how, etc.). This enables the IG to conduct a thorough inquiry.

Q: Who can submit an IGAR?
A: You do not have to be in or associated with the military to submit an IGAR. Anyone can submit an IGAR as long as it concerns an activity of the U.S. Government, specifically the U.S. Army and/or its members.

Q: Can I submit an IGAR using e-mail?
A: Yes. However, for personal security and to maintain your privacy, the Department of the Army IG strongly discourages complainants from filing an IGAR via e-mail because it is not a secure means of communication.

Q: What problems/issues can I present the Inspector General?
A: Any problems/issues concerning the U.S. Army and/or its members may be presented to an IG. Law and statue restrict what Inspectors General can do in the areas of Civilian Personnel, Legal, and Equal Opportunity/Equal Employment Opportunity (EO/EEO).

Q: Can I talk to an Inspector General "off the record"?
A: Information provided to an Inspector General is NEVER OFF THE RECORD.

Q: Can I be disciplined for contacting an Inspector General?
A: NO. Contact with an IG is a "protected communication." A supervisor or employee who reprises
